Progress on version 0.2


I felt like SSC itch.io page needs an update too. After all it has been a while since first release. For those of you who are not following devlog updates in SSC discord channel, there has been few progress updates since first release.



When SSC was published on itch.io, i started working on save/load system. With it came ability to pause the game. After that i started implementing technology part. After all, that's what the update is called. I implemented basics of technology - nodes, edges, tree, controller. That was fun until i started implementing its UI to make it functional. I had an idea of technology UI in my head but i made few mistakes along the way which made implementing UI part hard. Long story short, unit tests and breakpoints helped out a lot.  Long story short, as it stands now, technology UI is functional. It is lacking few UI parts like when technology is finished and every single technology has same time (12 seconds for now). That 12 second part i'll figure out during testing. Oh, and also AI was updated accordingly.

During all of the things i talked about in last paragraph, i did a few smaller changes. I randomized players starting positions, i added an option to select how many players world will have, implemented generic queue system which i can use for both technology researching and building ships and i gave an ability to AI to conquer planets which are not under human player control.

Long story short. It'll take at least few weeks to finish off technology part of the update. And then there are multiple smaller updates like build UI upgrade, world generation upgrade, probably a new ship if i manage to figure it out, bunch of smaller fixes and few new bugs.
